Thanks to the generosity of its former owners, who wanted the car to be used to make art and to make people happy (and the efforts of the current owner and his friends), this ArtCar project came to be.
The Beatle is a 1969 Volkswagen that spent its last several years in the garage of the Rice Hotel in Houston, Texas -- ArtCar capital of the known universe. The 1969 album Yellow Submarine, by British rock band The Beatles, provided inspiration for the project.
There were some disappointing delays on The Long and Winding Road to completion (maybe you've heard about this pandemic thing?), but we figured
We Can Work It Out.
And, With A Little Help From Our Friends, we did! The Beatle and its artists, the Fab Four, were a hit at the 2022 Houston Art Car Parade, thanks to all who contributed time, talent, treasure and tangibles to help realize this dream. After two years of COVID quarantine, the Houston Art Car Parade hit the streets again on Saturday 9 April 2022, and The Beatle was there, bringing smiles to the faces of fans young and old.
